Bernfried E. G. Proeve

I am a composer and pianist – a border-crosser between genres whose music belongs less to the present than to the future. Statistically, I am among the most frequently performed composers of my generation.

In my works I combine serial and spectral compositional techniques, which I studied with Gérard Grisey, with sounds of great emotional force. Every piece is an adventure, a new discovery of timbres – virtuosity not as an end in itself, but shaped through and through and deeply emotional.
